Data Guard 4.0: Improved Performance, Flexibility, and Platform Support

For more than 10 years, link22 has developed its Cross Domain Solution offering, continuously adding new capabilities while growing its customer base. Over time this has proven the solution’s ability to meet the needs of demanding, high-assurance environments.

link22’s approach is based on a flexible software offering that leverages commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers and client platforms. This gives customers greater adaptability to their own environments, improved cost efficiency, and more effective lifecycle management. These are benefits that are often highly valued compared to traditional hardware-bound solutions.

A trusted enforcement point

Data Guard 4.0 is the latest major version of a core component within link22’s Cross Domain Solution. Acting as a trusted enforcement point, Data Guard ensures that only authorized and policy-compliant data is transferred across domain boundaries. It supports environments where strong separation and thorough inspection are essential.

What's new in 4.0

Version 4 adds support for protected data transfer when running Data Guard on Linux, extending a capability that was previously available only on Windows. This ensures the confidentiality and integrity of information during transfer between domains.

Data Guard 4.0 also delivers enhanced performance and stability, meeting customers’ continued demand for efficiently handling ever-increasing data volumes.

A key improvement is enhanced configuration support for Active Directory checks, allowing more precise control of user and system validation in enterprise environments. The filtering engine has also been extended with improved rule handling, including support for “match any” and “match all” conditions, enabling more flexible and detailed policy definitions.

Operational improvements

Configuration has been updated with a more modern JSON-based setup, making deployments easier to manage and more transparent. Logging has also been improved, providing better traceability and simplifying troubleshooting and day-to-day operations for IT administrators.

Security capabilities are further extended with additional antivirus integrations. Other improvements include enabling the Windows signature filter to run on RHEL environments, supporting more consistent behavior in mixed-platform deployments.

Strengthening Cross Domain Solutions

With Data Guard 4.0, link22 continues to strengthen its Cross Domain Solutions, helping customers meet growing demands for secure, controlled, and reliable data transfer in regulated environments.

Data Guard is developed in Sweden and built on COTS hardware, designed for organizations operating under NIS2, the Swedish Protective Security Act, and equivalent regulatory frameworks across the EU.
